Our materials are designed for strength, durability, and a unique design touch, adapting perfectly to the needs of project implementers.
RESICOL 118 is a tri-component product based on fluid epoxy resins, poly-amidic hardening agents and special reactive inorganic charges. It hardens following combined reactions of polymerization and hydraulic set.
RESICOL 118 reduces the likelihood of the formation of blisters and detachment of epoxy and polyurethane coatings of cement floors not protected from widespread rising damp.
The combination of the two hardening reactions, hydraulic set and polymerization between resin and hardening agent, ensures excellent adhesion to the supports.
RESICOL 118 is waterproof when water is liquid, but it is permeable to steam; in the event of a build up of water under the coating, transmission of steam greatly reduces hydrostatic pressure, which is responsible for the detachment of the resin coatings applied.
Treatment with RESICOL 118 features:
• Excellent adhesion to humid cement supports;
• Perfect waterproofing;
• Good permeability to steam;
• Resistance to permanent contact with sea water;
• Good mechanical resistances;
• Thixotropy: it coats and seals crazing and pores in concrete;
• Unchangeable and long-lasting;
• When loaded with 0,1÷0,6 mm quartz sand, it enables thicknesses up to 2÷3 mm.

Preparation of the support
Remove crumbly parts, traces of demoulding oils, fat, varnishes, latex concrete, saline efflorescence or old paints through hydro-sandblasting or sandblasting for walls, shot-blasting, milling and floor polishing.
• Corrupted parts need to be removed and restored, preferably using RESICEM 700, 748 and 748 BM;
• Any unevenness in concrete and gravel nest must be smoothened beforehand with RESICEM 748 BM;
• With concrete, iron spacers must be cut approx. 2 cm below the surface and sealed with RESICEM 748 or RESICOL 102;
• Water seepage in holes, cracks or cold shut casting must be treated in advance with RESIPLAK;
• To waterproof underground surfaces, carry out rounding connecting bases on all corners.
Preparation of the product
Pour component B into component A as per weight ration shown on the package.
Blend at slow speed for 3’ – 5’ using drill with helix/spiral to reduce air inlet as much as possible; during this operation carefully mix the product also on the bottom and walls of the package, then slowly add powder of component C, blending it until an even and lump-free mixture is achieved.
Application
The product is roller or spatula applied in two layers. The second layer may be applied 24 hours after the first operation, following the same procedure.
Notes
RESICOL 118, when applied in two layers on humid surfaces for a total thickness of approx. 1 mm, is enough to achieve good waterproofing of the concrete and an effective barrier against widespread rising damp.
Before applying on resin coatings the layer of RESICOL 118 must be completely hard: wait at least 48 hours with an ambient temperature of 20°C and relative humidity lower than 70%.
By pouring B component into A component, the hardening reaction starts: following mixture the time available is limited and it depends on the temperature.
| Temperature | Pot-life | Hardening |
|---|---|---|
| 10°C | 110-120 min | 72 h |
| 20°C | 80-90 min | 48 h |
| 30°C | 60-70 min | 24 h |
Minimum hardening temperature: +8°C. Complete hardening: at least 7 days following application at 23±2 °C.
Consumption
From 1,2 to 1,4 kg/m² of RESICOL 118, applied in two coats, depending on surface configuration.
Surfaces that may be particularly rough or coarse require greater consumption than stated, from 1.5 to 2.0 kg/m2. In case of spatula application, we recommend adding 0,1÷0,6 mm spheroidal quartz, amount up to 10÷15%.
Packaging and storage
Available in 17 kg packages (A + B + C component).
If stored in its original and sealed package, the product remains unaltered for at least six months if kept in environments with a temperature between 10 and 30 °C. Keep from freezing!
RESICOL 118 enhances adhesion on dry and damp concrete surfaces, cement mortars, bricks, gres, marble and polished cement.
It is used as damp proof barrier, alone or before the application of epoxy and polyurethane waterproof coatings, on cement supports prone to widespread rising damp.
More specifically, RESICOL 118 is recommended for:
• Indoor and outdoor waterproofing of foundations, basements, tanks, swimming pools, sewage pipes, duct systems, dam facing, bridges, galleries, purification plants, etc.;
• Reduced thickness smoothing of concrete or coarse plaster;
• Anti-damp bottom layer for cement floors before applying continuous synthetic coatings like AUTOMIX, MULTIMIX and RINFOMIX;
• Sealing of pores and crazing in concrete.
