This type of reinforcement can be done both on concrete and wooden beams when it is necessary to reduce a high camber or when it’s necessary to increase the load of a floor.
It’s also possible to reinforce tile elements covered by cement floors by applying the reinforcement on floor joist joints.
In case of the reduction of rise, the most frequent scenario, a counter boom is applied to the bent element:
the beam or the floor are propped in order to restore them to horizontal position. Reinforcement is added (foil or one-way strips) and when the resin is completely hardened (after 7 days), supports are removed. Carbon reinforcement starts its action as soon as the floor starts to inflect.
Below we would like to explain a structural reinforcement method of concrete beams with carbon fibers using one-way strips.
As per areas subject to cutting, the operation is carried out by creating U-shaped frames outside the beam. The procedure is the same as with bending reinforcement.
