Consolidating structures: new solutions for masonry

Today, intervening with structural consolidation of masonry and related rehabilitation has become a solution that is not too costly, effective even following structural failure, and common with the many renovations that especially in this period, with the advent of bonus 110 and other incentives, are in high demand.

Consolidation of structures has evolved, with innovative technologies and professionals able to provide the right answers and advice needed to do a great job faster than in the past.

We at Resimix have been specializing in building materials and solutions for years, which is precisely why we want to tell you about our products as well, but first let’s talk about masonry dampening and structural consolidation.

What do we mean by masonry damping?

Buckling between masonry walls is one of the main factors that determine the boxy behavior of buildings, which is essential for the stability of a housing structure.

We can see this at the corners when the brick joints, visible due to the removal of plaster, are placed offset to ensure the connection of the two walls that meet. There is no buckling when the masonry walls are only juxtaposed and thus at risk of tilting out of plane.

Why is it necessary to intervene with the consolidation of structures?

Dampened masonry walls also suffer from different types of problems including rising damp and water infiltration, for which simple exterior plasters are not enough.

Solving and preventing these inconveniences is possible through certainwall waterproofing products, such as our waterproofing system RESIGUM and with SILOXIL 500, specifically for stone walls.

Structural reinforcement and masonry consolidation: our conservative approach.

To preserve as much structure as possible, the FRP materials (Fiber Reinforced Polymer) are the best solution, because they are reversible and do not change the trifles and structural arrangement.

For these reinforcements to work properly, the laying surface must be smooth. That is why it is necessary to eliminate cracks through structural bonding and clean the plane to remove old plaster from the surface, for example. It is possible to perform a tie-back with anti-shrinkage mortars with a low modulus of elasticity.

Structural consolidation injections: our RESISYSTEM 312.

Used in structural consolidation actions of masonry for controlled pressure structural injections, the epoxy system RESISYSTEM 312 is also ideal for concrete and for grouting and fixing connectors on brick, concrete, marble, stone, tuff and other materials.

You can use RESISYSTEM 312 to consolidate structures in blind or through cracks with widths of 1 to 4 millimeters.

With this product Resimix guarantees you.

  • Excellent mechanical properties,
  • low elastic modulus,
  • stability,
  • Durability of the hardened product,
  • chemical resistance.

For piloted injections in structural consolidation of cracks and lesions without casting, at Resimix we also offer you our slightly thixotropic epoxy system REPIKIT EP 312, ready to use thanks to its kit with cartridge and necessary accessories. If you use this product, injections should be done with a hand gun or compressed air gun.
