Between 2019 and 2020 we were on the RFI line, Novara-Luino to Bellinzona (CH), to collaborate on the SBB-funded project with the aim of upgrading the Gotthard line to Italy.
For this intervention, it was essential to bring reliable solutions for waterproofing and consolidation of structures, so we chose one of our flagship products: RESISYSTEM 351 TX.
The project and the challenge: tunnel waterproofing and consolidation.
Participating in this project was both a commitment and a great satisfaction for us at RESIMIX srl: the work involved lowering the rail deck and reshaping the gauge for the passage of wagons with trucks through the Laveno-Mombello tunnel. One of the main challenges to overcome was the infiltration of water, coming from the crossed mountain, which formed ice stalactites during the winter, damaging the overhead line contact wire and consequently the pantographs.
Our solution with RESISYSTEM 351 TX.
The intervention for us was clear: inject our epoxy resin through a network of holes very close together, which we drilled in the top of the vault. This resin would waterproof the vault and consolidate the structure.
RESISYSTEM 351 TX was the product we chose to overcome seepage and preserve the tunnel.
