Building roads, bridges, viaducts and other constructions involving the passage of means of transportation also means making expansion road joints, placed in structural gaps, which must ensure deformation and displacement of the decks.
Crucial in terms of the durability and strength of the work, especially for their function of preventing water from infiltrating the substructures and allowing movements of structural elements, road joints are also built, repaired and restored by a very important product: our RESITAR 30 M mortar.
What are road joints?
Designed to accommodate the displacement of roof structures (in our case roads), expansion road joints are essential at certain points on the surface to change the stiffness and bearing capacity of the works.
To construct road joints and curbs, or to restore asphalt pavement, at Resimix we have produced RESITAR 30 M, a three-component epoxy-bitumen thixotropic mortar with high mechanical resistance to impact and compression.

What are the procedures for installing road joints?
Let’s start by gaining a better understanding of how the installation of road joints takes place, which follows several procedures.
Operators must
- Cut the roadway pavement and evaluate whether to place drainage elements,
- Verify that the structural opening corresponds to that shown in the design,
- Glue the flashing (element that protects against rain) with the appropriate resin,
- Make the laying surface with the mortar chosen based on the thickness to be filled,
- And finally place the joint panels.
Why choose RESITAR 30 M?
We have designed this solvent-free epoxy mortar (an added value for the health of workers in laying) to ensure
- high resistance to environmental agents and good permeability,
- remarkable adhesion on dry and wet concrete,
- The ability to apply it to substrates with a temperature range of +5°C to +30°C.
RESITAR 30 M is also easy to work with normal tools and is resistant to alkalis, salt solutions, slurries, oils, greases and low concentration acid solutions.
