Single component water-repellent protective treatment, consisting of a low molecular weight organoalkoxysiloxane dissolved in water.
SILOXIL 500 W strongly reduces the disintegrating action of chemical agents present in the atmosphere on porous materials. It penetrates deeply into the treated material and hardens in the presence of humidity without forming surface films. On the walls of the capillaries, it forms a silicone resin impregnation which, once hardened, significantly reduces the water absorption of the material, making it water-repellent.
• SILOXIL 500 W guarantees good resistance to alkalis in materials containing lime and cement;
• good resistance to atmospheric agents and ultraviolet rays: it does not show yellowing;
• while making the material water-repellent, it maintains its permeability to water vapor unaltered;

Support preparation
Thoroughly clean the substrate to eliminate efflorescence, mold and dirt.
The cleaning operation, carried out with pressurized water or with a hydro sandblaster, causes the surface pores of the material to open and increases its absorption capacity. It is therefore necessary to proceed immediately with the protective intervention to prevent dirt from accumulating in a shorttime.
Adequately protect the glass, wood, metal and plastic parts.
Product preparation and application
SILOXIL 500 W is ready for use and must be applied uniformly in two or more coats by brush, roller or low pressure spray.
Apply two coats in short times without waiting for the complete evaporation of the water to prevent the water repellent agent from carrying out its function by hindering adhesion of the next layer.
The surfaces must be kept dry with temperature between + 10 ° C and + 30 ° C.
Pot life in bucket cannot be evaluated. The hardening of the product occurs by evaporation of the water which leaves the siloxane in the material to be impregnated.
Tack free (dry to the touch) time varies from a few minutes to a couple of hours depending on the material and weather conditions.
Consumption
In consideration of the type of material and its absorption capacity, consumption is indicative and highly variable.

months at 20 ° C in its original sealed container
SILOXIL 500 W is used to protect a surface from the penetration of water and salts in solution and
gases produced by environmental pollution. Preserves concrete from carbonation and in marine
areas prevents degradation caused by chlorides and salinity. Used on old walls, it prevents the
formation of saline efflorescence. It is applied to all absorbent mineral building materials:
• brick and exposed concrete;
• natural stone, marble, travertine, tuff, sandstone, etc;
• bricks, terracotta;
• cement and lime-based mineral plasters;
• mineral paints based on lime, cement and silicates;
• artificial stones and cellular concrete.
